Capture The Flag: Ep 3 Now in the portal!!

Posted by Aeonstars Jun. 30, 2009 @ 3:32 PM EDT

Capture The Flag: Episode 3 is now in the portal!! Why are you still reading this? SEE IT HERE!

Make sure to watch Episodes 1 and 2 first!

Finally, after way too much time, I release the third part to my series. This animation has been in production hell for over a year and I've worked on it on and off, balancing school, a short film, and a part time job. I do have a small but very loyal fanbase that has been pushing me to continue and I appreciate your patience!

Episode 3 is stock full of secrets and hints that help unravel the CTF mythology. As I have always said, I want to create a compelling well thought-out narrative here on Newgrounds and that has always took priority over animation or drawing techniques. I have the entire storyline figured out. Not making this up as I go along. So theorize, analyze, and hypothesize! Ask me any questions you want. I can't promise to answer all of them but I will give some clues.

I liked it a lot. As Luis said, it chugged a bit, but that was on my older rig. I'm sure if I watch it on this one it'll handle it alright. I hope this gets the attention it deserves. It's dialogue heavy, but it drives the movie, which is very story-centric. I'm intrigued, so keep them coming. Preferably sooner than later.

Thank you very much, Biff! You're a guy who devotes himself to making high quality pieces on this site so hooking you onto CTF makes me feel very accomplished :)

Excellent, as per usual. Good thing you submitted this today, otherwise I would've had to wait a month.

Jul. 1, 2009 | 4:21 AM Aeonstars responds:

Nice. You've been pushing me to finish so it would've sucked if you had missed it lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Awesome episode my friend, though its lack of publicity is appalling...

The episode raised a lot of questions, and, after thinking on them for a bit, I figure I'll try my hand at answering some of them. Dunno if you'll tell me when I'm right, but if you could give us some kinda hint, that'd be swell.

Okay, *ahem*

The other link in the episode is used by Scarf, who needed to feel envious to use it.

The man in white is Grandpa Kingsley's brother, possibly, and that would explain part of why Scarf is working for him. You see, Scarf's hair color is identical to Evan's, which, in my mind, denotes some relation. I'm guessing either cousins or, dare I say it, siblings?

The Mantis is Amy. The reference to a female mantis eating male mates led me to it. Of course, I could be way off. But nobody else seems in a "praying" mood, so I rest my case on that one.

There's a sign throughout the episode, the Omega, I believe. Either Grandpa Kingsley's sign, or that of the man in white. Or maybe both?

As far as the totem's name, I could only find one that seems out of place. Arthur. Arthur Kingsley, reincarnated as a totem pole.

Speaking of which, when "they" captured him, he had the flag. So they killed him and took it back. Maybe that's why he's a totem?

Anyhow, that's my take on it. Anyone else got opinions? And Aeon, any input on my theories/ an estimate on the next episode(s) would be awesome.

Jul. 6, 2009 | 12:29 AM Aeonstars responds:

Hey Ifinnl, thanks a lot for the analysis. Yeah, the lack of publicity is really disappointing I have to say. I guess CTF will be forever destined to remain an underground flash series.

The other link is not scarf, a link is a physical place. It is seen very early on in the ep. The man in white in not Arthur Kingsley's brother but they do share an old connection. Perhaps they both attended Camp TF when they were children ;). I knew that people would think Evan and Scarf were related because of hair colour but that is all they share. They are not related.

You're dead on about the mantis. Check out the insignia on her cards.

The upside down omega is a physical representation of where Keeper's Edge is in relation to camp tf. Pay attention to the line drawn inside it.

Arthur is not the totem. His fate is still not yet known but there is a high possibility he's been dead for quite a while. Kiwifish got the name right.

As far as an estimate goes, you'll have to wait for my next blog post. I hope it doesn't let you down too much :/.

Thank you for your digging :)

Everyday since CTF3 came out i've been going on newgrounds hoping to see CTF3 on the front page....
I always get disapointed

Jul. 6, 2009 | 12:29 AM Aeonstars responds:

Yeah to tell you the truth I'm pretty disappointed. The views and reviews have frozen in place after 3 days going through the portal. A year's work.

like you said, maybe it's doomed to remain "underground."
so what, they will never be an "awesome" spoof of CTF, who cares? kill me when that happens, lol.
or maybe... that's the best idea yet... :O

Jul. 12, 2009 | 9:18 PM Fierce-Deity says:

Don't worry about your flashes being "mainstream" or anything like that. So far the 3 episodes fold together into a great story that I can see leading into a mind blowing ending. Tom will curse the day he didn't put one of your episodes on the front page! There's probably an huge load of foreshadowing and hints that we don't have enough knowledge to take into account yet, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I do have a question though- how many episodes are there going to be? And- how long are we going to have to wait for episode 4?

I have loved the series so far. It has a likeable plot and likeable characters. Very good voice acting and music choice. The only question I have right now is: When is the 4th episode going to be released?
